Joanne was born and bought up in Wairarapa, New Zealand.  She now lives in Whangamata New Zealand.

She has been painting since 1983, but for the last four years has been working full time, painting and selling her originals, prints and cards in galleries around New Zealand.  Her preferred medium in water colour as it allows her to bring out the very best delicate nature of her subjects.

Childhood holidays were spent at beaches with her family or in Wellington visiting art galleries with a favourite aunt.  Her husband, a surfer of many years has spent countless hours beach combing and enjoying the beauty of the coastal foreshore in New Zealand, Africa, Asia and the Pacific Islands. 

Learning Chinese Brush painting techniques whilst living in Singapore encouraged her to experiment and follow on a painting journey.

These things have led to a passion for colours, patterns, and the beauty of the world around especially things coastal.

Joanne is mainly self-taught but has attended several classes and workshops.  She would not be painting now without the encouragement from several of these teachers.
