Rebecca’s home environment as a child was the foundation for her becoming a painter. Rebecca remembers being comfortable anywhere, as long as she had a clean piece of paper, a pencil and if she was lucky, a new packet of felt tip pens.

Rebecca grew up in surrounded on all sides by an art, music and theatre loving family.  Having a mother who painted full time from her studio at home showed Rebecca what a rewarding and fun time could be had with this profession. Rebecca feels it wasn’t so much that she chose to become a painter, rather it was what she felt most comfortable doing.

The roller coaster ride that is travelled due to choosing a profession with no set job description and no clear formula for what it means to be an artist sees Rebecca’s yo-yo. Happy and loving the journey one day, when the ideas flow and it’s only the hand that can’t work fast enough, when the form takes shape the colours mix well, a life born from nothing. Then self doubting and grumpy the next.  When every stroke is second guessed and the colours look like shit.

But despite this roller coaster ride Rebecca walks to work every day and is glad of  what she is doing.  The works may evolve over time, take on another look. But her final creations are consistently pleasing and allow collectors to receive the same comfort through viewing her works as Rebecca feels through creating them.
