Mary left the corporate world approximately 6 years ago to explore her creative side. Since then she has completed a number of art courses including a part time visual arts programme run by Rutherford College, life drawing classes and a variety of workshops held at Lopdell House.
Mary is currently part of a group of artists called S.A.L.T. The group was formed approximately 2 years ago and comprises a group of 15 artists who meet every week at a studio in the Corbans Estate Art Centre to work together and generally support each other’s practice.
Mary has been part of a number of group exhibitions at Woodards Galley and Art by the Sea. She has work in private collections in New Zealand and overseas.
Mary’s ability to form contrast and depth is in part due to her ability to evolve with her work… not scared to move in ways that her art dictates, allows Mary to form works that are more about the “painting” than the artist’s direction.
As she has let go of her corporate ways and has entrusted her ability to create, her work has picked up momentum and feel. Her textured works are packed with the intensity of moments and change and allow the viewer to touch, relax and respond to the feelings that they hold.
